About

Issho Tokyo Ueno (博多前炉ばた 一承 東京上野) is the Ueno branch of "Hakatamae Robata Issho" (博多前炉ばた 一承), an izakaya specializing in Fukuoka and Hakata cuisine. It is on the 8th floor of a mixed-use building, a 1-minute walk from the Asakusa exit of JR Ueno Station. Fresh seafood bought directly from eight fishing ports on the Itoshima Peninsula (糸島半島), plus local Fukuoka ingredients rarely seen in Tokyo such as Itoshima pork and Itoshima chicken, are grilled over charcoal in robata-style. The signature is a freshly butchered eel prepared in front of guests.

— From Itoshima Peninsula, all the way to Ueno

The signature is fresh seafood bought directly from eight fishing ports on the Itoshima Peninsula (糸島半島). Pulled from in-store live tanks, butchered in front of guests, and grilled charcoal-style on the robata - a visually exciting style. The standout is the "whole grilled fresh conger eel" (生穴子の一本焼き), butchered to order, so its freshness and just-grilled aroma stand out. Alongside, Fukuoka local meats rarely seen in Tokyo, such as Itoshima pork (糸島豚) and Itoshima chicken (糸島鶏), are also offered. To finish, Hakata's famous "motsunabe" (もつ鍋, offal hot pot) is available in two styles - soy sauce or miso. Seating ranges from 2 to 56 people in horigotatsu-style private rooms, suitable for groups. Hours: weekdays 16:00 to 24:00; weekends 11:30 to 14:30 and 17:00 to 24:00 - lunch is available on weekends.

“Ueno's Muslim-Friendly Restaurant ✨”

✨Dishes: What I ate & my verdict I ordered the Domestic Beef Intestine Hotpot (motsunabe) and Special Raw Roe set, along with the Domestic Beef Lunch Meal. They serve lunch menu sets only on weekends, so I went on a weekend to try it. The restaurant is not halal certified, but most foods are Muslim friendly, and you can ask the staff to show the Muslim-friendly options. For weekend lunch, all dishes are halal, which is very reassuring. Everything tasted incredibly delicious, especially the motsunabe broth and the beef. I chose medium cook, and it came out juicy, tender, and melted in my mouth. The flavors were rich and full of umami. It was honestly one of the best halal weekend lunches I've had around Ueno. 🔥 ✨Feelings: How it made me feel The food was warm, comforting, and extremely tasty. The ambience is welcoming and calm, and the dining space is private-style, which made the experience feel very cozy and comfortable. I could enjoy the meal without feeling rushed, and it felt like a safe and pleasant place to unwind. 🌿 ✨Safety: Staff understanding & needs I could eat safely and with confidence because the staff really understands halal and Muslim-friendly requests. They are respectful, knowledgeable, and very helpful. They willingly explained the menu and made sure I ordered only items that fit my needs. Alhamdulillah, the experience felt secure for a Muslim diner. 🤍 ✨Cautions: Things to note Since the restaurant is not halal certified, I still recommend that you inform the staff that you are Muslim and want to order Muslim-friendly or halal options only, just to avoid any confusion. They handle it well, but letting them know early makes it smoother. Also keep in mind that the lunch set is only available on weekends
