Plus Veganique JIYUGAOKA (プラスヴィーガニック) is a vegan shop opened in autumn 2016 in Jiyugaoka by an owner-chef who gained vegan cooking experience at an organic restaurant in Karuizawa. Without any animal products, food additives, or white sugar, vegetables come directly from contract farms as the organic star. With advance reservation, gluten-free and gokun-free (without the 5 pungent roots) accommodations are also flexibly handled.

The menu features plant-based plates and single dishes starring organic vegetables delivered directly from contract farms. Without any animal products, chemical seasonings, or white sugar, the cooking thoroughly draws out the natural vegetable flavor. With advance reservation, gluten-free and oriental vegan (gokun-free, without the 5 pungent roots) accommodations are also flexibly handled - guests with dietary restrictions can visit with peace of mind. The signature "vegetable plate" combines seasonal vegetable dishes on one plate - it creates fans regardless of whether they're vegan. The owner-chef gained experience at an organic restaurant in Karuizawa before going independent in autumn 2016 in Jiyugaoka.

A standalone house about 10 minutes' walk from Jiyugaoka Station.
They have many all-vegan, gluten-free menu items, so I researched alone — looked like there'd be lots my dairy/egg/wheat-allergic son could eat!
I had the lunch menu "Vegetable-Aromatic Brown Rice Paella & Soup (Vegan & Gluten-Free)."
When the plate arrived, I was surprised by its splendor. All different vegetables, all with different seasonings — how much work?!
First I had the soup — it was surprisingly delicious. The maitake mushrooms were really good.
The paella had different vegetable aromas and textures in each bite — just fun.
I realized vegetables can be this delicious — a wonderful experience.
They focus entirely on the beauty and deliciousness of vegetables, creating a space where everyone can enjoy a meal together.
Very relatable, and a wonderful lunch.
